ART & CONSERVATION SERIES

DRAWING from NATURE

Observing the natural world is like allowing your eyes to draw without using a pencil as you carefully follow the outlines of the shapes, textures and details. The art of Drawing is simply a form of mark making. With practice of the basic skills we learn to draw what we see through our own interpretation and develop a new awareness and appreciation of the natural beauty in the world around us. We begin with a series of exercises and build on a variety of techniques.

WATERCOLOR

The appeal of watercolor is found in the transparency and fluid-like flow of the medium. Through a handful of basic techniques; structuring, glazing, wet-in-wet and dry brush, we learn to mix and multiply them to create a variety of applications to achieve our desired effect. The key is in the balance of water and pigment as we move through the learning process with greater control and confidence.
